Laura Dimitrova was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1958.

She graduated from the National Academy of Arts, Sofia, Bulgaria in 1982.

Since 1991 she has been a member of the Union of the Bulgarian Artists.

Since 2015 she is professor in decorative arts at “St. Kliment Ohridski” University, Sofia.

She works in the fields of artistic textile, painting and drawing and she has taken part in more than 200 art exhibitions and art projects in Bulgaria and abroad.

Up until now she has had 11 individual art exhibitions in Bulgaria, 2 individual art exhibitions in Paris, France and 1 individual art exhibition at the GEDOK Gallery, Munich, Germany in 2014.

 

Prizes: Second Prize for Drawing and Graphic Art at the Exhibition of the Artists from Northwest Bulgaria, Lom, 2005; The Award “James H. Pinto” from 13th International Biennial Festival of Portrait INTERBIFEP, Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2008; In 2011 she won the prize of the Union of the Bulgarian Artists for residency at Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, France in 2012; She received The Prize of the Governor of Stara Zagora District from the Third Balkan Quadrennial of Painting, Stara Zagora, 2012; The prize for Graphic Art from the 6 Biennial of Small Art Forms, Pleven, Bulgaria, 2012; The Prize for Bulgarian Artist from the International Annual Art Exhibition “Mini Paper Art” of AMATERAS, 2013.

The prize of the Art Gallery of Ruse from the Biennial 4 Art Miniature Ruse, 2013; in 2013 Laura won the prize of the Union of the Bulgarian Artists for residency and exhibition at the GEDOK Gallery, Munich in 2014; in 2015 she won the prize of the Union of the Bulgarian Artists for residency at Shwandorf, Germany in 2016.
